Dr. Felipe Martínez, Eng. Ph.D.
Assistant Professor – Department of Logistics and Executive Consultant – Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
Dr. Martínez holds professional certifications in various fields of quality and lean management, and technologies. Besides his doctoral accreditation, his post-graduate studies include a degree in Industrial Engineering. Well-travelled and versed in various cultures and business practices, he has worked and taught throughout the Americas, Europe, and India. Dr. Martinez was nominated as ‘best teacher’ in 2016.
Dr. Martínez graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and completed doctoral studies management at the University of Economics, Prague. The development of his career covers process excellence in two main areas: Lean Management and Organisational Design. Both topics, today centre on research relative to Industry 4.0. The research in Lean Management explores the creation of a leanness measurement system (Lean Index) and its applicability. He teaches Lean Management in Prague and Porto. For more than 3 years he has led several projects in different industries on Management Quality and Lean Six Sigma at the university. The research in Organisational Design focuses on the Procedures to establish an organisational structure. His PhD presents more than 10 years of work on this topic.
